Study Skills
Many of our students enter Tampa Pinnacle Academy with a deficiency in executive functions, particularly note-taking skills. It is our goal to teach our students effective strategies to initiate and complete tasks, focus attention, and set and achieve goals to ensure that they are able to reach their full potential.

Organizing Materials
Starting in the third grade, Summit students carry a Case It ™, a special binder that contains all work from the current grading period. Student binders are completely outfitted at the beginning of the school year. Students are required to file assignments, quizzes, and tests in color-coded folders. Daily binder checks are conducted to ensure that the process of executive functions are active. Faculty and parents sign student agendas to check for note-taking accuracy.
Parent Information and Communication
Parents are provided an at-a-glance view of all subjects, including access to study guides, emails, week in review letters, photos, and a campus newsletter.
Quarterly progress meetings are conducted between the faculty and parent/guardian to review student performance and address areas of strength and concern.
Homework is assigned with objective and purpose. We recognize the importance of family time, social, and extracurricular interests. Supervised study periods are provided throughout the week for middle school students. Students utilize our unique “EF ticket” to demonstrate their selection of study strategies as an extension of the executive functions skill training.
